We strive to help our students flourish—not just in their learning, but in building a strong foundation for lifelong success.

We believe that well-being is central to all we do, and that developing character is just as important as cultivating intellect. Recognising that learning is a social, emotional, and cognitive journey, we are committed to inspiring and engaging the whole child.

Our framework for wellbeing

At Chapel Downs Junior College, wellbeing is part of everyday school life.

It is reflected in the relationships students build, the support they receive, and the culture that helps them feel known, safe and ready to learn.

The early adolescent years are a time of significant growth and change. Our approach to pastoral care focuses on building strong relationships between students, teachers, whānau and the wider community. Through positive connections, guidance and encouragement, students develop confidence, resilience and the ability to navigate challenges with increasing independence.

Wellbeing is supported through daily interactions, mentoring, health education, learning experiences and co-curricular opportunities. Students are encouraged to develop their voice, take ownership of their learning, work respectfully with others and contribute positively to the world around them.
